State Guidelines for Sexual Health
Information and Disease Prevention
The Guidelines for Sexual Health Information and Disease Prevention as currently posted on the OSPI web site will create a revolution in sex education in the State of Washington http://www.k12.wa.us/curriculuminstruct/healthfitness/pubdocs/sexedguidelines011005.doc. To comply with the guidelines, districts are compelled to revamp existing programs that citizens have spent countless hours developing and spend thousands of taxpayer dollars on materials that the majority of the families will vehemently object to. The next step after defeating the bills is to remove the guidelines to all for local control.
Senate Bill 5306 and House Bill 1282 will exacerbate the chaos created by the radical views expressed in the sample curricula that is expected to be used by districts in meeting this unfunded mandate. (Samples of those curricula materials being used and promoted are available for viewing.) The backward means of drafting these guidelines then sponsoring drastic legislation on a controversial topic portends the promise of election turnovers for school board members who support it, the Superintendent of Public Instruction who was party to such chicanery and legislators who deliberately violate the will of the people and prevent due process with public funds.
